    Panasonic Q Service Disc Question

I recently got a hold of the service disc thanks to a kind fellow but after following the instructions on how to make the unit region free, all it does is set my machine to factory default. Anyone have any tips?

Afraid I don't have any tips, however if you manage to get it working I would be very interested in obtaining the disc.

Likewise. Is it an official disk? Do you need a japanese speaker?

        All region or just US/Jap?

While we're on the subject of the Q does anybody else find their DVD playback to be quite dark? I am using the cheapest of cheap cables though (would like a proper Q SCART but they cost sooooo much!).

Given the choice of connections on the rear,i think you'd be better off with a good S video cable, thats what i use for the DVD's while using the RGB cable for games, and yes i agree, they are a bit expensive!

Shame it doesn't do RGB for DVDs.

There's no way it can unfortunately

The Q is not a custom unit - it's basically 2 separate machines in that case and the mode button switches between them, they do nothing together. You have a standard Gamecube motherboard with it's connectors slightly modified to fit into the back panel, the digital out port is just an extension off the Gamecube motherboard, the DVD board is totally separate with it's own AV out.
