Windows send error report - you ever use?

I kept having probs when i que up clips of movies in Windows Media Player as soon as a clip is finished it crashes on the next clip - restarts laptop each time with a blue screen that lasts half a sec which has a load of stats - i thought it was WMP so i tried uninstalling it, but you cannae uninstall WMP in XP its built in! So i thought i'd update it and install some more codecs but still had the same problems, even updated Direct X but no luck, finally when i rebooted, Windows error alert box came up, which i usually just ignore but this time i was glad to see it as i had run out of ideas and went ahead to report the problem - it said that me graphics card drivers was the cause of it, and suggested i update them - which i did, - i was sceptical that it would fix the prob - but it did - the crashes has since vanished now.

So if you have any probs, and tried everything you can - last resort would be MS report.

You can uninstall media player totally or you can look for the registry edit that disables those previews...

A quick google should pull up the results you need.

Also, if you have the XVid codec installed it's been reported to cause that error with previews. I got it a few times trying to preview an XVid encoded AVI a few times.

I use it whenever I get a suspicious crash, the first time I did it I was plesantly suprised when it told me what file was causing it and probable fixes.

You can't. On XP its impossible to remove Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player.

        No go area that.

        Sorry.
