    xbox error message

Can anybody help me,when i bought my xbox back in october 2002 i was constantly getting a message stating "your disc is dirty or damaged".i sent my xbox away to microsoft who returned it after replacing the dvd drive.Everything has been working perfectly up until recently,i have started getting the same message (even though the discs are not dirty or damaged).
Can anybody tell me if they have experienced this problem and if so how have they dealt with it.

    Thanks

Try cleaning your lens, if that wasn't work your drive is shagged.

Are you playing morrowind elder scrolls?

If so, then theres nothing you can do about it. If you have large save states on that game, for some reason the DDE's (dirty disc errors) pop up more frequently.
For MW, the easiest thing to do was keep all doors closed and not leave junk everywhere, and the smaller save files caused the game to glitch up less. But if I was moving too vast, or too much was happening on screen it occured. As if the system couldnt handle all the info that was going on.

From what Ive heard, its *probably* not your drive, but rather the game that is simply full of glitches. But hey, Im no Xbox expert.

Halo and several other games have also had this occur on occasion.
But Morrowind is famous for that problem.

From my experience it has nothing to do with how dirty the disc is.
Ive read some interesting theories on this, but couldnt say for certain.
Check the gamefaqs morrowind board, they're all veterans of the DDE glitch, and might be able to give some advice.
If you can stand taking a dip into those boards that is.

      What games were you using?
How big are the save files for those games?
      Is your system chipped?
Im assuming your using legit games, right?

Interesting topic. I've got the same probleam (more or less).
I always get a dirt disc error when playing MechAssault.
And it almost (let's say: 99%) always happens after a match is conlcuded and one should return to the multiplayer menu.

(BTW: Yes, I play MechAssault only with LIVE, never singeplayer)

Other games work well... besides the XBox LIVE starter/demo disc.
The starter disc takes ages to load.. and after a while gives a DDE.
(most of the times I can start a demo... but then the fun truly ends)

        To answer Otaku84's questions:
        • What games were you using?
MechAssault and the LIVE starter disc
        • - How big are the save files for those games?
Well... the LIVE start disc has no saves. And Mechassault
has a lot of savegames (content downloads). Don't know how big though.
        • - Is your system chipped?
Yep... and my DVD drive is a Thomson
        • - Im assuming your using legit games, right?
Doh... the one game that gives me errors is the one game I play only on LIVE

        EDIT:
And I have tried cleaning the lense...

Every time I've had the message, a quick clean of the disc and everything is hunky dory again, Xbox drives do seem fussy though, on the PS2, my GT3 disc is so used (and now so scratched) but not once has it failed to load
