    TV Problems.

Basically i've got a Sony KV21LS30U which i use to play my consoles on and i've noticed a small but annoying problem over the the last couple of weeks that is really starting to get to me.

With a 50Hz input into the TV everything is perfect, but with every console i own that outputs 60Hz the whole screen "jitters" ever so slightly. Its only very very slightly, but its there nevertheless and is one of those problems that once you've noticed it you can't stop focusing on and its really starting to bug me.

Has anyone else noticed this? or is it just my TV thats playing up and is it time to buy a new one. I'd hate to buy a replacement and find that it does the same thing.

How long have you had it? Getting a bit worried since I've got the same TV..

If you have a local electrical repair place it might be worth carting it down there for them to have a look (I'm assuming the warranty's run out), rather than rushing out to get a new one.

      I've had it about 2 1/2 years.

Thinking about it, i've only noticed the problem since i moved my games room / spare bedroom around and put my telly at the other side of the room. I know that magnetic fields can affect the picture on crts (infact i've had to use the picture rotation function on the TV to straighten it up since i've moved it to the new place) so i've got my fingers crossed its just that and nothing more serious. I shall set it up tonight at the other side and see if that helps at all.

If it comes to it i'd rather sell the TV than have it repaired as i've had some bad experiences with tv engineers in the past. To 99.9% of the population the picture is perfect.

I'd be grateful if you'd check out your TV tonight and see if you can see the same problem on yours. Its easy enough to spot on DC or PS2 games when you can swap the image between 50 and 60hz at will.

I get this on my Bush TV. It's hardly noticable, so I just stuck with it. It's only in NTSC 60hz when it occurs. I've always thought it was the resolution at which NTSC is displayed compared to PAL 50Hz at which I don't get this 'judder'.

On my Toshiba there is a noticable difference between NTSC and PAL images when the image tracks horizontally, I've just accepted it as an effect of the format and I dont notice it anymore.

If you mean the image bounces up and down ever so slighlty then it can be fixed using the lovely service menu. However as most Sony TVs won't allow you to use the Service menu and use SCART at the same time it's fairly hard to adjust... >_<

Still note down values before you change any of them (there is no Factory default...) and you can't go wrong...

I can't seem to replicate the problem on mine.. Tried it with Wacky Races on DC (where you can switch back and forth between 50hz and 60hz during the game). I'm sure I'd be able to see it if it was there, since I'm such a stickler for picture quality.

I've had the same telly for about 8 months, and it certainly doesn't happen on mine

                  Panic over folks

I moved it back over to the other side of the room and the picture is perfect again.

I reckon this house must be on top of an ancient indian burial ground or something.

                  Good old Sony.
