Firstly, Welcome to NTSC-uk. Hope you stick around.

Secondly, we have a review of Harvest Moon: Mineral Town on the GBA going up on the main website soon (next week perhaps?). So I hope that helps.

Finally, just out of interest, how did you find us? Google, recommendation, link?

i played harvest moon on the snes and enjoyed it, the only thing that i didnt like was the days were to short and you couldn't get much done in a day.
other than that it was great fun

          'Ello Rob .

As charlesr said, we have a review of Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town going up sometime relatively soon. As I wrote it I thought I would make a few pointers as to the series, just to give you a general idea.

First thing is, the games generally start off quite slowly. Things don't suddenly happen in a rush, and sometimes you might get frustrated depending on your general level of patience.

Secondly, to get the most out of the game you do have to put a lot of effort in. There is quite a lot of repetition to be done at various points, but mostly the games keep you playing by pacing events and such out. The rewards for your work are pleasing and varying, so plugging away does most definitely have it's positive side.

The games are hellishly addictive and very charming. You'll have to run to your own little routine to get things done, but balance it with a healthy social life to get yourself a wife .

They are well worthy of the effort though, and from what I have seen of the GameCube version I don't doubt that it will be the same .

I have the PS2 version and it is quite simply excellent. A truely rewarding experience. It does take some time to get into but once it clicks you'll struggle to turn the machine off. It's that good.

I for one can't wait for the forthcoming GC version.

Is that in the game or in real life?

                :P.

I could add that all the women are completely superficial and are impressed most by expensive looking gifts, but that wouldn't define whether it was game or real life either .

Is it comparable in any way to (oh hear it comes) Animal Crossing?

Hmm.. in the way that you have to interact within a community to gain items and progress, it is similar.

However, whereas in Animal Crossing you can wander around to your own relaxed schedule (due in part to the real time element), Harvest Moon requires some careful planning and consistant effort on your part. Each game day is quite short (although the GameCube version is supposedly going to rectify this) so you have to get cracking with your work.
