VF Evo arcade stick, any good?

I am thinking of getting one of these from Allan, but would like to know what people think of it. Is it a solid arcade stick, or am I better going for the SC2 one?

    Thanks in advance

I'm waiting on one from tokuda as well (I presume that was the allan you meant).

I've asked around the versus city forums (which seems to be where all the VF sages hang out), and the general opinion seems to be that it's the perfect stick for VF4/Evo, but for other games is not really suitable, due to it having a 3 button set up and two buttons reserved for L3 and R3.

If your wanting an all round stick you may be better getting the soul cali II one, I believe it has a 6 button set up?

I know we spoke about the stick already, I just wondered if anyone else had first hand experience with it. I found a picture of it though, it looks nicer than the SC2 one.

Well, I use mine for Evo and Psyvariar mostly. Works pretty well for them IMO. Feels just as good as the DC Stick, although not as heavy.

          I'd recommend em' ^_^

I was in the same situation as you cookie and decided to go for the soul cali 2 stick as it is a better all round stick.

I cant decide. If the VF Evo stick is also good for shmups then I will probably go for that, but I dont want to be restricted with other beat em ups, but I dont like the styling of the SC2 stick.

I think I may have to result to the tried and tested technique of the coin toss to decide.

              Thanks for everyones input though.

You'll never be able to play a Street Fighter game on your PS2 with the EVO stick (but then again maybe you dont want to).

Spend oodles of cash & get both - 'tis the only way to be sure.

My PS2 SC2 stick arrived this morning - lush

I think that has swung it for me. Allan mentioned this as well, and I might be getting a US PS2 and Capcom vs SNK 2 so it would be important for me to play it with an arcade stick. Its a shame as the styling of the VF Evo stick is much nicer imo.

Going off topic slightly : But are these Hori sticks clicky ? Do they click every time you move the stick press the buttons, or are they the same as your average arcade cabinet stick smooth and silent.

I know its a bit of a stupid question but I'm thinking of picking up a PSII SCII stick, but I'm not sure if I can take all that Microswitch clicking It would remove the pleasure of a Dragon Punch for me

                        Yep. They click.

Can't say it bothers me though.

I cant say i have ever seen/heard a console arcade stick that wasnt microchipped or clicks in some way.

I like the clickyness - hard to describe, but it gives the stick a more 'solid' feel

When was the last time you went in an arcade? :P All Hori arcade sticks are microswtiched. The buttons are standard leaf springs, but you only rarely find microswitched buttons in arcades these days.
