    Charging a Jap GBA SP

    Hiya,

I've tried searching but can't find anything - apologies if I've been stupid.

I've just got a Japanese Famicom GBA-SP, but don't know how to charge it - do I need to buy a step-down or anything?

    Any advice appreciated!

    Thanks
    Tony

Buy a cheap charger from GAME. As I understand it (I never go in the place) they sell third party ones dirt cheap.

Oh, and leave me some feedback ^_^

Yes, you'll need a stepdown, or just buy a UK-spec charger from the high street (GAME) for similar money.

Thanks guys - so that's just a bog-standard GBA charger from Game?

Can I charge it with an Official UK Nintendo one then?

            Ok, so....

Can I use the stepdown I use for my US Gamecube for the charger for the Jap GBA SP?

Just to clarify things before I blow the thing up!

Yes. And it doesn't take that long to charge the SP up, so it won't hog the stepdown for ages.

Bloody hell Tone!! Thought you knew all this ****!

Anyway, pop down to HMV and buy a Logic 3 SP charger for ?4.99 and you're sorted!

RULE OF THUMB: All Nintendo consoleshave their PSU external so you can use any PSU on them regardless of region - same applies for my SNES N64 and Gamecube.

I have that Logic 3 charger that I bought for my Famicom SP - I only used it once though because it overheats and gets REALLY hot . It was even hot when it wasn't plugged into the SP, but attached to the wall socket

Luckily I have an Asian SP so I could just use the plug that came with it...that one doesn't have any overheating problems.

If you got your Famicom SP from Play-Asia or the 220v version from Lik - Sang then it should be good to go in the UK without anything additional needing to be purchased.

I got mine from Play-Asia and it came with a UK 3 prong plug inside the box as standard.

Just get hold of the USB GBA cable for something like ?2 from Lik Sang or Play-Asia. Then charge your GBA-SP via your laptop/ PC. That's what I do when I'm at work - then play my GBA at lunch

I use the USB charger too. MVC sell them for about ?4. Small and very useful. You can even charge your SP from your PS2 (How's that for irony )
