    Evolution 2 Dreamcast PAL

hi, i was just wondering after i saw Evolution 2 on ebay for ?77(with 3 hours left)
how rare is this game? i have only even seen the PAL version for sale once before and that was for ?15.
so is it rare or is this just ebay again?

    thanks

I payed about ?17 for a sealed PAL copy last september, from some guy in Germany. It's still sealed...

I didn't think it was that rare and I've seen US copies go for less than a quid, to be honest I thought ?17 was expensive.

cex in London have it in occasionally for something like ?20-25, so I think that ebay price is way off. I paid ?25 for mine.

            ?77 eek

I had two copies, sold one off on Ebay, can't remember what it made now, about 20 quid I think.

It is quite hard to get in the PAL format, but there are other titles more difficult to obtain imo.

In terms of supply < demand, probably Samba. After that maybe Rez, though its hardly rare. Headhunter and Shenmue II had a fairly low run, but they're not too hard to get hold of.

There are a lot of 'unusual' mediocre titles, of which Evolution 2 is probably the most note worthy. Things like Jimmy White, Starlancer, Spec Ops, Spiderman, etc.

Taxi 2 is probably the most rare title, at least outside of France.

Initially ?99.99, but a second batch went for ?79.99 online.

The game was sold on its own for ?29.99, crazily enough.

HMV sold off their copies of Rez and Shenmue II for ?15 then ?8. When the price went down to ?8 they both disappeared very quickly.

i guess the ?100 price tag put most people of it, i don't think i ever saw one for sale when it was released.

I bought my Samba from GAME on release day, and it was pre-sold out (I was lucky in that someone cancelled their pre-order as I reached the counter). There was a queue of people at about 11:30am when they were expected in.

They had a special smaller display box on the shelves that had different artwork, and the game alone for ?30. I can only imagine people who couldn't get the boxset bought just the game thinking they could get maracas later on (thinking about it, I know someone who did just that).

Two weeks later Amazon listed the pal boxset for ?80 which sold out in about 5 days (after it's initial allocation pre sold out at ?100).

I'm not sure whether there really was a second batch, or whether they came in from other countries where it hadn't sold as well. I remember MD saying there was one batch of something like 10,000, of which Sega Europe only kept one set for QA (thats confidence).

There was a chap who posted on the old edge forums who used to work for Sega, and he said that Iron Aces had a very small run.

I found that easy enough to obtain though, so not sure how true that is.

I found Dragon Riders, and NBA 2K2 very difficult to find, but there are about 20 or so titles that could be classed as tricky to get.

Taxi 2 still eludes me :/

I remember Simplygames having Samba with the Maracas available for ?69.99. I had a voucher at the time too which would have entitled me to ?5 off. I really regret not picking it up.
