Ixos PS2 to Scart cable produces an awful picture

I went ahead and shelled out 30 bucks for the Ixos PS2 to Scart cable, since everyone says it's the best you can get.

Man was I surprised when I turned on the PS2 again. There's a loud buzz of some sort coming from the tele, and the picture is just awful. It even looks better with RGB turned off in the PS2's internal settings. Does anyone have any idea what the cause of the buzz might be, and why the picture is so horrendous. The Blaze RGB-scart I had before worked like a charm, and the picture was pretty good, but I couldn't resist the temptation to buy the Ixos cable when I saw hificables was selling it for 30 bucks

BTW, does this cable even send out a RGB-signal? Ixos official website doesn't say anything about it, but I've seen several sites claiming it does.

Does the game channel switch automatically on when you power the console?
If it does it's likely that it at least tries to send RGB signal.

The low buzz might be caused by a loose/shorted ground wire. Best to return it back to the store. I suggest you take your PS2 with you so they can try another cable on the site.

Is your PS2 chipped at all? If so, this could well be the problem.

It's not the actual messiah chip that knacks RGB out, wod. If, in addition, the modder has done the force colour mod on the PS2's PCB this causes problems. The official PS2 scart is totally barfed by this and perhaps its the same problem with the IXOS.

The official cable is a premium product because it uses an IC circuit and not just a simple capacitor setup to process the signal. The force colour mod knacks the timing and you get ****ed up picture.

Either remove the mod wire in the PS2 or get a Blaze RGB cable.

The console is imported from the states and unmodified. Could it be that the IXOS cable is not compatible with NTSC consoles?

I have a white jap ps2 and I use the Ixos RGB cable and the picture is really good, if that's any help to you.

Anyone know if this cable is the original Blaze cable (the good one).

Didn't think I'd need it again so I sold it

Tested it on a mates PAL console, and got the same result, so I don't think it's got anything to do with my setup. Dang doesn't IXOS test their stuff before it gets sent out to retail
