    WE/PES referee question

Does anyone know if the referees in the WE/PES games have different characteristics or are they just different models? I was playing it today and set the referee to random and i got some tall dark haired ref and i seemed to get away with alot more pushing than i usually do normally - Is this just my imagination or are there actually more leniant/harsh referees to choose from? If so, who is what?

    thanks

God knows. But yeah, some refs are very strict, some allow pushing, some allow hard but fair tackles etc. You usually get an idea of who you got by how long it takes to get the first yellow card

In some old IIS games I can remember there being a choice of about 3 referees each with varying levels of strickness. Always assumed the different refs in recent PES/WE games were based on the same system...

They all seem to be equally as harsh (and as wrong) to me. Bookings when you won the ball, unwarranted sendings off for a slightly late tackle and not even being booked for a professional foul. They are all useless IMO.

So they are pretty much the same as refs in real life then.

Yeah, i remember on the N64 games:

Carlos - Tall black ref, very strict - you were lucky to finish with 11 men with him around
Heinz - Short, light brown haired ref that called everything pretty fairly
Hasagawa - I think he was asian and he rarely gave cards at all.

Well that's what i usually get too, but i was just playing about with the options and i set the Ref to random and i played about 5 games after that with some tall ref with dark hair and he was brilliant - he never once called those 'tackles from the side where you clearly win the ball' as a foul and he was spot on with dealing with all the wreckless tackles. Maybe it was just a freak day.......

Ah yes Carlos... for obvious reasons when playing ISS98 we nicknamed him "the Jackal"

                Those were the days!

To be fair Carlos was the only fair ref, and once Hasagawa (or Hasaga a as I am sure he was called in the SNES version) got involved it was just a brawl out there.

                Great fun! Who needs realism?
