MSN / Hotmail down?

I got signed out of MSN at bang on 8pm and since then i have not been able to access hotmail or MSN messenger.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Yup, same here. Unable to sign in as well although the status says it's all fine.

Yep, ditto sadly. Says the service is temporarily unavailable. Haven?t been able since around 8ish. I cant get into my Hotmail account either, which is rather annoying.

Out of pure interest, what sort of things can cause this? Would it be a direct problem at the core of the service or something more trivial like too many users at one particular time (this admittedly seems ridiculously unlikely, but you never know)

i'd say the reason is probably down to microsoft using its own software to host the them

nah, a server probably died or they are doing maintainance.
