Modded Xbox Problem.

I recently got my xbox modded and had the evolution dashboard installed with all the dvdx, media plater and stuff.

today I tried to boot the system with the chip on and instead of being sent to the evolution dashboard, the system took me to the MS dashboard.
The led seems to indicate that the chip is on, but I can't understand why the system no longer boots with the evolution software.

I wasn't given the relevant software by the person who did the mod, so re-installing is not a choice unless I can get hold of a copy of it.

Anyway, hope this makes sense. Any advice would be appreciated.

1) Did your Xbox use to boot to EvoX dash?
2) You played any recent games where the dash is updated? (To Xbox live)
3) Can you ftp to your xbox?

My suggestion is, if you have the capabilities, to go into the .ini file for EvoX and see which dash it is booting into, you may need to change it or rename your EvoX dash...

Hi mate, thanks for the quick response. I'll answer each point in turn.

1. If I had the chip turned on when booting my Xbox it would go straight to the EvoX dashbaord. If I booted without the chip enabled, I would get sent to the MS dash.
2. I've not played anything over xbox live. The only thing I had done recently in relation to the dash was to update the skin.
3. I can't FTP to my xbox.

Seems a bit strange, maybe there was a problem with updating the skin or something so it autoboots to the MS Dash.
How did you update the skin?

I was able to select a new skin / dash from within EvoX.
Thanks for your advice though. I will give the xbox scene site a try.

the modchip connections may have got dry or just failed. if you can take a look inside as it looks as though the modchip just isn't copying it's bios to enable you to load the evoX dash.

Your mod could be like mine in that you have to hold the power button down for a couple of seconds to activate the mod. Just tapping it boots it into an un-modded state for Live! play.

It is indeed. However, I get the problem when I hold down the button to try and boot it into modded mode.

Does the chip still work? Can you load games from a different region on it?

The LED flahsed orange when the chip is enabled and it is still doing that. I won't be able to test the region mod until my copy of Ninja Gaiden arrives (which will hopefully be sometime this week).

If that doesn't work, I presume it will be the mod itself that is the problem. I'll keep you posted.
