Xbox Media Player (XBMP) is the central piece of software in my AV setup and so is by far the most useful software Ive installed on it.

XBMP has been replaced by XBMC (its by the same guys), its more stable, and has surpassed XBMP in terms of features/playback quality now.

Linksboks is also pretty useful, a web browser for your Xbox, doesn't (currently) support flash or anything like that, but useful none the less.

DVD2Xbox is also essential, can rip games, dvds, music cds straight to your HD. Auto patches games as well.

Avalaunch is my current favorite Dashboard, support for RSS feeds and IRC chat. The FTP engine is a little flaky still, the one in XBMC is much better.

The ability to play imported games!!!

XBMC is great but it's been mentioned twice...

          Erm... GentooX Linux?

If you want an easy set up go for a self installer like Slayers2.5 (latest version) It has most of the above apps.

This is a good place for Emulators http://www.x-b-o-x.net/modules/news/

If you want a copy of Slayers pm me

Edit a new version of XBMC is out nicer menus and not one lock up so far.
