What's the next logical size up resolution wise above...

that also preserves the perfect 4:3 picture wise @ 1024x768?

    Is it 1280x1024?
Cause I tried it just now and I'm sure it looks a little wider than normal...

Also I found thru trial that 1280x1024 was a bit too small on my Sony 17" Trinitron... Is that a perfect 4:3 pic for a resolution that's bigger than 1024x768 and smaller than 1280x1024?

Thanks to all replies in advance!

I use 1280x1024 on my 17" TFT and it's not 4:3, does anyone know if there is any way to slightly letterbox the picture to get the correct proportions? It doesn't bother me that much and any 4:3 video content gets letterboxed, but I'd like everything to show like this.

1280x960 is the correct one for square pixels.

However, several annoying graphics cards (like the one I'm using right now) don't do this, so I've got a squished screen.

Lyris, I doubt you'll be able to letterbox a TFT slightly, as the display is far less flexible than CRTs.

              I'm a 1280x1024 man, myself. I didn't realise it wasnt 4:3, truth be known I didn't think to check.

I find 1600x1200 would be useful if my eyes weren't so ****e tbh.
