    Modded Xbox? (Changing Languages?)

    Hi

Well basically I've got a Japanese modded Xbox, which I've been using for a while.

As you may or may not know, some games actually "adopt" whatever language your Xbox region is set to. My problem here in lies that no matter what region Orta Disc I put in, I still get Japanese language in game.

So my question is; Is there anyway, to change the settings/region of my Xbox, so I can play it in English?

I can't FTP anything over, so keep it in mind, and i'm not too much of a tech savvy guy, so keep it simple if possible (2 syllable words max should do the trick ).

    Thanks in advance

hmm, try changing your language to english in the microsoft dashboard or that doesn't work use a program called config-magic to set the region of your xbox to pal or usa.

Yeah Probeater is right, you need to set the eeprom to either PAL or US with a program called Config Magic.

Do you have evo-x installed? If you don't already have config magic installed you would probably have to ftp it onto your Xbox, seeing you don't fancy that you could probably burn it to a disc and do t from there.

Do you have a dvd burner?

The Microsoft dash board is set to English, it doesnt actually affect in-game though.

I've got evo-x installed. Don't have a dvd burner ... would a cd burner do the trick?

I'll go check what apps I've got installed, just in case

Thanks for all the help so far.

If you have config magic then i can tell you the steps, if not you'll need to get it on somehow, do you know what kind of drive your xbox has?

Cd-r will only work with a Samsung drive.

I'm gona assume it's a samsung drive, as I've got some emu's I run from cd.

I've got a settings menu, which has stuff like ftp passwords, and booting up options etc... there's also a video switch mode, to toggle between NTSC and PAL, "press A for PAL eeprom, or B for NTSC eeprom" is the msg prompt... It doesnt affect anything in terms of game/language playback when selected however.

                  Hi,

This is what I was always told, too; but I've got a Thompson (sp?) drive, and I managed to get it to work. Basically you need two things:

                  1) A CD-RW (ordinary CDs don't work)
                  2) A copy of Nero Burning Rom version 6. In the burning options this has a tab which features a handy tool to make your CD-RWs XBox-compatible.

Like I said, I've never had a problem since. Obviously CD-RWs are **** for some emulators (MAME and N64 because of the ROM file sizes), but for everything else, apps or emus, it's been fine.

gordon- CD-RW's will work in all the drive 99% of the time, it's CD-R's that only samsung's will do, CD-RW's are ok but very slow for recording to.
