    Playstation 1 NTSC vs PAL

Made a new topic, since the other one doesn't have a correct title anymore really

I bought a second hand PSone (PAL) this week and I was wondering what the best way is to play NTSC games.
As far as I know there are 2 ways:

    1. boot disc (like http://www.modchipstore.com/Playstat...2_p_16136.html
    2. mod

I was wondering what the best choice is.

And how's the difference between PS1 PAL and NTSC games? Are the PAL games 50 hz. with black borders? Or just 50 hz. full screen?
Do you recommend to get NTSC games most of the time?

I got 1 game now and that's Dancing Stage Party Mix PAL, which is full screen.

And the last question, what would be the best RGB cable for the PSone?

    Thanks in advance

ntsc games ALWAYS show full screen at 60Hz if you can get them to boot in the first place.

Yes I know, but how are the PAL games?
      50hz. with black borders?

And are memory cards universal or is there a difference also between PAL and NTSC?

And do Final Fantasy Chronicles, Anthology and Origins NTSC have any problems with the PAL system?

That depends... a lot of them are optimised, others are not. You should probably google for a complete list.

Memory cards are universal and I don't know about the games you've mentioned... I have the US versions and a US PS2.

[BTW, there's no need to quote my entire message like that when it's an immediate reply. In a conversation you wouldn't repeat what I said straight after I'd said it before responding. IIRC it's against the forum guidelines too.]

          Ok, sorry for that.
Just did that to make it all perfectly clear

Another question, I also need a RGB cable for my PS1.
          Any recommendations?
          This one looks ok: http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page=search&adudisc=y
RGB cables work on both PS1 and PS2 right?

There's no need to make it clear :P infact quoting like that kills thread clarity

In any case PS2 and PS1 RGB cables are fine... I use an old official PS1 RGB cable and it's perfect. I dunno what that one is like.

I'd like mine with a gold connector and an AV block
              Logic3 also has one: http://www.logic3.co.uk/?page=shop/f...58f4c63990d594

Hopefully someone drops by with knowledge of PS RGB cables ^^

              EDIT:
              And another question arouse!
Is it possible to play shooters (with gun) on a 100hz. tv?

I *may* get given out to for this but tbh you're asking questions that a bit of forum and internet searching would answer.

                  Perhaps.
But the thing is that I already use google almost 24/7, so that grows tiring
Besides, here I can get opinions of different ppl instead of reading a page which can contain subjective and false information etc.

But if you have an interesting page with all the info about the PSone, please let me know

If you reason like that, then you could question the existence of fora not?

I wouldn't say a lot of games fare well border wise.
Mainly Konami stuff like Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid are fine, although i heard Castlevania is a bit borked with the borders. Gran Turismo 2 (Gran Turismo is borderlicious) and the Wipeout series is fine also.

                    Rule of thumb:
Stay away from anything bearing the Capcom/ Squaresoft logos for PAL stuff
Just go NTSC all the time if you are concerned about it.

PAL games will always, play in their original form when playing on a modded PSone/ Playstation.

As for RGB cables... a ?5 GAME one seems good enough for me.

Quite, although the same could be said for threads in Q&A forums where people are too lazy to actually search and just park themself in a help forum expecting everyone to jump through hoops for them :P

                        @Valken: that's true also
But I DID use the search function

@geektanic weezmacht: okies! I also bought Pong today, from Atari. Also no black borders 8)
And Dancing Stage is also from Konami (no borders, like I said).

So now I'm 100% sure to get the NTSC version of the Final Fantasies, which is kinda logical since we don't have Chrono Trigger over here heh

Is "Game" an online store or something?

I got Pong last week and it has no black borders.
Are Atari games usually full screen?

I kind have a dillemma. I can get Final Fantasy origins for 10 euro's here, which is very cheap, and PAL of course. Alternatively I could get a US version from Ebay, but that would cost twice or triple.
                          What would you guys do?
