Is there any point in buying a Dreamcast BB adapter now?

I know that might seem like a silly question but is there any point in buying a Dreamcast BB adapter now?

I've got a good opportunity to buy one cheap and I only really want it to play Street Fighter II Turbo for Matching Service and Street Fighter Zero 3 for Matching Service... That is if there are still any dedicated official (or maybe unoffical) servers out there that supports these games!

The only other reason I might get a Dreamcast BB adapter is if I ever get the Dreamcast Karaoke unit, I can download karaoke music tunes much quickly...

Thanks to all replies in advance!

The service for Capcom online games was shut down a couple of months ago.

The Broadband adapter can't be used with the Karaoke add-on as the unit slots into the same port.

Even if Capcom's Matching Service was still available you wouldn't be able to get on it anyway.

      Japan only.

I used mine to play DC Quake from time to time...

run a v1.29 dedicated server with the right map packs etc and a few mates connecting from elsewhere

Can you still browse with it? I used to browse while I had dial-up, but when I got BB, I cancelled my dial-up account.

I'm sure I've heard of people playing it online in the UK though somehow when it was up and running...

Also I'm sure people have done their own servers for PSO...
Is there no way at all that say for example 2 people with copies of the same game play it in the UK somehow?

              charlesr,

you can indeed but at 640*480 it's a little hard on the eye, even through a VGA box

Yes it can, the drikara has a modem-port pass-through. The Karaoke software is designed to work with the bba too.

                See mine here:

Dream Key 3 that comes with the jpn bba will work as a web browser, and the US v3.0 browser disk will work (not actually included with the us bba).

pal pso v2 works with the bba (servers might be down now though), and us Quake III works too (you can run your own server as mentioned).

The Capcom matching service games are modem only, they will not work with the bba. As I understand it, with the matching service you dial into a list server, find an opponent, then redial directly to the other DC.

The main reason for owning a bba is uploading homebrew software from your pc, for which it is very useful.

The main reason I got mine was for uploading homebrew in fact but I lost interest in it pretty quickly tbh.

The Euro PSO servers are still up, so if you have the PAL one, you can still play online on your DC. DC forevar!! w00t!

You sure? I thought they were taken down a few months ago?

Might dust off my copy if they're still up.

They are still up, It was the US servers that were closed.
