    RGB Spider Cable Advice

    Take a looky,

    linky

Anybody tried this out? does it work well? give good picture quality? Would save on a whole bunch of wiring behind the TV, not to mention all those scart splitters.

Afaik it won't give as good a signal as a proper switch box.

I have one of these cables (and before that some of the other spider cables). The picture quality is fine, no problems at all. The technique of a splitter vs switch doesn't effect the picture quality at all, it just means you can't keep more than one console on at the same time.

Another quirk is that the ps2 seems to 'hog' the audio unless you turn it off with the switch at the back (not just on standby). What this means is that there will be silence on the other consoles until you switch off the PS2 properly.

The only consideration is that this isn't a gold cable, so you'll lose the advantage that gold plugs will offer. Also, it's useless for NTSC gamecubes, naturally.

      It's a good cable.

I`ve got one of these and the only problem I`ve found is with 4 consoles pluged in it can make the picture a bit dark, esp on the Xbox

I had one and sent it back. I had a DC, X-box and Gc connected. The X-box was so dark it was unplayable and the GC looked washed out. I don't if it was my **** telly but I would just get a 4 way scart thingy from Argos instead.

Thanks for the advice guys, I think I'll go with the Argos option, based on the mixed reactions here.

                Cheers

I was tempted to get one of these but ended up going with the Argos option, but having two Argos switch boxes linked together and cables filling up about half of my lounge is hardly ideal.

*eats humble pie* okay, I've changed my mind on the cable. After direct comparison with the Dreamcast, the cable is MUCH darker! Probably best sticking to argos splitters.
