    using your J-Phone again

    Basically i have a SANYO (SAO5 i think?) J-Phone. Does anyone know if it will be any use to me when i Tokyo after spending a year out the country? I know you can't use a Sim but does anyone reckon j-phone/ Vodafone will be able to connect me to pay and go? Or will it just be easier to get a new one?

    Cheers,

    Cho!

    afaik with vodaphone - j phone doesnt exist anymore, the pay as you go plan works with you buying a new phone and yes they do suck ass..

    i dunno how long youve spent in japan, but you should know that unless you are a child/teenager that having a pay as you go phone in japan equals a very negative image, well being non japanese there (unless you have your gaijin goggles on) is negative as it is without your phone to boot ^^

    connotations of being a criminal, or unemployed immediately spring to mind, its also a huge negative point if you are applying for work.

    thats the truth of it, tho you wont hear it from airheads over there.

    still you can always sign up for a new contract, au are giving voda a run for their money thats for sure .. ntt/docomo expensive as usual..

    dont forget the nasty fines you`ll pay if you cancel a new contract early or fail to cancel the next years contract on time!

    oh, and if you pop into a Geo store, they have their own budget price plan also.

    just dont sit near your phone as its charging, lots of dodgy se asian batteries in jap phones with several people later last year being splashed in acid when they blew up! use water but dont rub i think was the advice given..

    and stay the hell out of kyushu due to "tori influenza"
