Soory, I guess this should probably have gone in the tech Q&A forum.

You can only get some of the US model RGB modded, no PAL machine can be.

I'm having mine done in a couple of weeks. I'll let you know.
You can RGB mod any NTSC N64.

Not being funny charlesr, but not all US N64's can be modded.

I was unfortunate enough to have an unmoddable version, but I've got another one coming from America that'll hopefully do the trick.

By the way, this has been confirmed by both Yod@ and Saurian.

Here's a link to a pic of the underside of the moddable N64 - Moddable N64

Definitely worth doing, if done properly with the link mod (as Saur does). As with any console, the sharpness of RGB is essential 8)

Sorry. I stand corrected. I thought I remembered Saur saying he can mod any NTSC N64.

Have to agree got one off Saur and the picture quality is much better than you get off a standard N64 signal.

I thought I could until someone showed me a motherboard revision I hadnt come across yet - where Nintendo have ripped everything juicy out!

Is there much of a difference between s-video on the US N64 and RGB?

I've still got Mario and Zelda to finish off and ISS98 in even better quality would be ace!

There is a big difference - S Video on the N64 is pretty nasty //>_\\\

My first S video cable (PAL machine) had that horrible washout effect which made it unplayable. But I got an adapter and it improved a lot. Not quite RGB, but it's ok if that's all you can get.

                          YES YES YES.
RGBing your N64 is absolutely essential. It's an improvement to the extent that people who have seen my N64 who are picture-quality whores have actually commented in a surprised manner at how good the picture is.
That and you can actually see what's going on...
