Where would be the best place to buy an amp? I'm looking for a chamapgne/gold one and Techtronics don't have any listed. All I can find are black and silver ones!
As long as its 5.1. Dolby digital II and DTS compatible I'm not too bothered about the power output as I only have a smal-ish room. Top end price I'd pay is about ?900 At a push.
?900 on a surround Amp? Bloody 'eck! I'd go for a Denon, I've been buying their **** for ten years and they always make the good ****. Except my amps, they've always been NAD models but they don't make funny coloured stuff.
If you've only got a smallish room you may want to think twice about spending ?900 on an amp, the difference between that and a ?300 amp is going to be negligiable.
i'm sure you will find something to suit your needs. and superkully is right no need to spend ?900 on an amp, unless your room is big and you have decent speakers attached to it! (what speakers are you using or thinking of getting?)
Just to back up what everyone else has said, Denon are your best bet right now for gold/champagne amps in that price bracket. Yamaha and Pioneer have come very close in terms of quality, but they don't seem to be doing this colour any more.
You need the Denon 3803 mate. Plenty of change from ?900 and it does everything you need from a HC/Gaming amp. Beautiful sound as always with Denon. Got mine from unbeatable. Couldn't fault them.
Go to a specialist AV dealer like Sevenoakes or Superfi, you can have a demo of what your after and they will pricematch any price you get as long as it's in stock.
I'll also second Monkey Balls Denon 3803, it's a stunner and should cost you around ?650 and well worth it. Or the slightly cheaper Denon 2803 you may also want to consider the new Yamaha RX-V2400RDS or the Pioneer AX5i they are both around the ?950 mark, both are better than the Denon but that is reflected in the price(they are also both silver) If your spending this amount of money you simply must demo it or atleast look at it in the flesh before you make your decision.
