US FFXI with harddrive on Pal PS2?

    Hi guys,

Does anyone know if this works?

I sold my USA ps2 about a year ago and have since been using a V7 Pal unit with a no solder chip and swap magic discs to boot my imports (Never caused me a problem and i had them lying around so had to put them somewhere!

I wanna import it cause I can't wait but does the HD work ok with this set up?

I doubt it either, and I got a Messiah 2 chip in my silver PS2 and it wouldn't work with the hard drive.

So either get a PC version or buy a new US PS2 with hard drive but I don't see any point of spending load of money for one or two games.

Apparently, the HD will detect what mod chip you have when you go online and also the HD utility disc won't work on certain mod chips.

I hear that the DMS3 is the only chip that will let you play online. But that's just info from other forums and message boards. Don't take my word for it.

it doesn't work on messiah chip either so i'd say buy a usa ps2 to use it to save all the hassle of getting it ot work with the pal ps2
