I'm a bit rusty on current graphics cards, where does this feature in the ranks? Better than most, or better than some but raised in favour due to a good price point?

Erm, it was ?130 delivered from overclockers. The deal has now finished there but I asure you it was geniune.

Microdirect have it now for ?140 delivered.

So although no longer ?125 it ain't anywhere near your estimatation of ?160/170

Back to the topic, the 9800 pro is a superb card and well worth picking up if your looking to spend sub 150 on a new GFX card.

well the 9800pro is the 2nd best ati graphics card, the only one better atm is the 9800XT.
the price is only dropping because the next gen cards are out soon. wait a month or 2 then it'll be under ?100

The 128Mb ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (Sapphire) DVI/TV DDR is probably under ?130 becuase it is OEM!

I may be interested in getting a new card if the prices are lowering again!

yeah, but it's still a great deal, i mean who wants a couple of crap games anyway? and a nice box?
OEM or retail it's still the same card afterall, just whats supplied with it thats different

I managed to order one of those ?123 9800's from OCUK.

Just waiting for it to come now

I cant see them going down much though, even when the r420 is released. Mainly because they've dropped by price from about ?200 in the last 2 month

Edit: Who cares about it being OEM? So i dont get the drivers, big deal, they are out of date anyway. And i dont get a ****ty composite or svideo cable which i already have about 9 of with no use, woohoo!

At those kind of prices that card is a real bargain. It eats the current crop of games for breakfast!

Two of my friends have a 9800Pro in thier PC, (along with other top of the line components) and Far Cry on max was still a little jumpy!

That's what I hate about PC gaming, he's spent about a grand on his PC and he can't play it on max without expecting frame drops during some action!

Every game I play I tend to put it on minimum/low just to keep the framerate really high and consistent!

Farcry really needs 1 gig of fast ddr to run smoothly. At 512mb the game does suffer from somewhat choppy performance. The 9800 pro is ample enough powerwise to handle the game, but are the other components up to the task? i.e. mobo and mem.

I have a 2800xp, 1 gig of corsair 2700 ddr, and a rad9800 (non pro) and the game runs smoothly with max settings at 1024x768 4xanisotropic filtering.

Anyone know when the next-gen cards are set to arrive? I bought my 9800pro a few months back and I thought I was investing in next-gen.
