TV Connections Query (Which Scart to use?)

    Hi,

I have a Toshiba 32ZP38 television and am wondering which Scart connections to hook my consoles/decoder up to. I have a jap/us-modded Panasonic Q which is connected through component inputs for games (for prog scan) and through S-Video on the front of the TV for DVD playback.

All audio is through an optical out to my amp.

I also have a digital set-top decoder, and PAL Gamecube (unmodded), and a PAL PS2 modded with the DMS3 chip for multi-region DVD and games.

Two of the three Scart connections on the TV are RGB enabled, while the other accepts S-Video. My PS2 Scart lead has a switch which can be used to turn the RGB off when watching DVDs. The Gamecube Scart lead does not have that option.

The decoder is connected by Scart to the TV and by a second Scart to my video recorder so there is no connection from the video to the TV.

Basically, which of the three Scart sockets should I use for the PS2, decoder and GC?

Also, if the PS2 is connected to an RGB-enabled Scart socket, does the switch on the lead make any difference?

Just solve the problem and get an Argos splitter

yeah plug the decoder into scart one and then use a argos splitter on scart 2 for ps2 and gc but you dont mention whether you use an rgb scart for the gamecube ?

the switch on the ps2 scart lead wont matter as the dms3 chip fixes the green screen so you can watch dvds in rgb.

Yes, the Gamecube scart cable is RGB.

Excuse my ignorance though. When you refer to an Argos splitter, are you referring to Argos the shop, or is that the product name?

I suppose that if I use the splitter that leaves the other S-Video enabled scart to be used for the Panasonic Q rather than through the S-Video connection on the front of the TV? Or would there be a reduction in picture quality?

Also, will the Argos splitter reduce the picture quality for games on the PS2 and Cube? (the PS2 DVD picture quality is more or less irrelevant as I use the Q for DVDs)

          Thanks

              Thank you for clarifying.

Will the Argos splitter accept RGB signals, as both the PS2 and GC scarts are RGB ebnabled?

Will I lose any picture quality using an S-Video to Scart with my Panasonic Q ort should I stick with the S-Video to S-Video cable?

the splitter takes rgb no worrys there, theres even a rgb on/off button for getting rid of dvd playback green screen if need be.

not sure on the svideo question, im pretty sure it gives same quality as i used to have my us cube plugged into the splitter via an svideo to scart thingy and i saw no difference in quality than plugging it svideo to svideo on the telly.

                  Thanks again for the help.

fragmast3r - I purchased the splitter you recommended from Argos, however when I got it home and opened it up it is actually slightly different. A bit more boxey and referred to in the following thread:

"Argos RGB scart splitter & splitter info (component)"

as 'available from Index'. (My apologies, I haven't yet learnt how to post images/url links or I would have.

That thread says that a few people on NTSC-uk use it.

Can anyone tell me if it accepts more than one RGB scart input? It has three scart inputs, referred to as VCR1; VCR2; and VCR3/SAT/RGB. My fear is that it only has the one RGB input (VCR3) but I could well be wrong. I need at least two RGB inputs so I can hook up my PS2 and Cube.

Also, I assume that I keep the RGB On/Off button in the On position for the best picture quality?

Again, any help would be very much appreciated.
