    Need Advice On Graphics Cards

You know when you get a bit left behind on the latest info etc, it wasnt long ago I upgraded my PC, didnt spend a huge amount but enough to get some decent parts. Yesterday I was reading the Far Cry thread on here and people were mentioning graphics cards, until I dug out my manuals and had a look at prices at a local computer supplier (Novatech) I realised how out-of-date my PC had become.

Judging from this site - http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/vid...roundup_9.html - My little Geforce MX400 64MB (not even listed) hasnt a hope in hell of harnessing Far Cry's demands. And to top it off, Ive only got 512MB RAM, Im gona need to double that to stand a chance.

Its amazing at how fast PC technology moves.

So, I never have and probably never will spend about ?300 on a new graphics card (eg the new ATi Radeon 9800) but can anyone recommend a graphics card and somewhere to get PC bits really well priced?

    for ?300 you can get-

    a 9800pro-?150tops
    512mb ram-?70tops
    far cry-?30tops

    total-

    ?250 tops

or a 9800XT for about ?250, but you can overclock the 9800pro to XP speeds with ease so save your money and get the pro

You can pick up a 9800 pro for about ?150-160 at most places at the moment, look out for special offers though as I've seen it go for as little as ?125 recently (the 128mb version).

Regarding where to buy check out the sticky at the top of the folder for the usual suspects.
