The best way to connect a Panasonic Q

Since a couple of months I've got a beautifully Panasonic Q. It works
fine and is a wonderful piece of modern technique.

But, I've some question about connecting it to my JVC television
(100hz). At this moment, it is connected with a composite cable. It works fine, but I wonder if there are other ways to connect it, and perhaps, boost up the image quality. What kind of cable can I use to plug into the digital port of the Q? Are there other ways to connect it?

I am planning to connect the Q with an optical cable (sound) to my JVC
Home Cinema Set. Is this possible?

Get an RGB scart modded component video cable for the digital av port to play GameCube games, and an s-video cable to play DVDs.

      Hey there,

First question - best way to connect is using a modded RGB Q cable. They have to be bought specially, a PAL one will not do I'm afraid. Saurian was selling a couple on here a while ago, he makes the best ones, so you could try pm'ing him and seeing if he has any/could make any? However, when you try and watch dvds through the lead, it will only output in composite. You can also hook up an S Video cable through it for dvd playback, that might be the best. However, the Q is not that good a dvd player anyway, so I wouldnt worry TOO Much!

You can indeed connect your Q up to your Home Cinema. However, do you mean for DVD playback or games? DVD playback 5.1, DTS etc can be hooked up via Optical as its digital sound, however in game the Gamecube only puts out Pro Logic 2, check if you have this, if you do youre in business - just run a set of phono leads from the back of your Q into your switch box/amp/ whatever!

Hope that helps, anymore questions feel free to ask!

I see, so importing a RGB cable from Lik-Sing won?t help, because it simply isn?t compatible with a Pal TV?
An S video cable should not be a problem.

The JVC Home Cinema Set supports Pro Logic. But I understand I the game sounds don?t work when I only connect it with a optical cable?

Hey there, importing an RGB cable will work on a PAL tv, as its a standard format. However, I dont think those on lik-sang are that great quality. S Video is more than acceptable though, so maybe that would be easiest, you can pick up a decent quality one for ?10.

As for the sound, basically the Q is actually 2 different machines in one, literally. The DVD side of the Q has nothing to do with the part that lets it play gamecube games (you might notice the difference in noise to what its doing!!). Normal cubes dont have an optical out or anything like that, so therefore the cube aspect of the Q doesnt have anything to do with it either! Cube sound isnt digital, so you just need a set of ?2 phono leads!
