      *jaw hits floor*
      THAT
      IS
      AMAZING
It barely ran on my 1.2Ghz with 1gig of RAM and a GeForce Ti4600
but with some polish that could easily be a very budget retail game or a very well looked upon freeware game. There's not much to it... it's sub-Serious Sam, but for 96k.... They managed to pack in a 3D Engine, some basic music, sound fx, some enemies with varying AI, some pretty high-res textures... etc. etc. etc.
Sure, there's a hell of a lot of compression going on there, but think of the applications! Any mobile or crappy modem could easily download 96K... if you can pack something like that into 96K, think what you could pack into 1 meg...
Maybe this is what the future of game distribution will be...
Or maybe not, but it certainly is intresting.

just shows what can be achived, if every thing was programed in such a way we would not be needing 120 gig hdd's

No it looks nice enough but theres some serious decompression and tricks going on there, plus after the inital wow factor the game is acctually not great, its a nice demo and its good they did it, personally I wish new games where smaller, i dont understand why some as so big, TBH I want to see developers be a bit more careful with how much space they use.

            UT2004 - 6 GIG!

The first HDD I bought out of my own money was 6gig!

It doesn`t run on my system, only 64megGC in my machine ft: Crazy considering I have all the latest games, including FarCry and they all run fairly well.

It really pisses me off to see games taking-up over 2gigs and requiring 128mebGC and 1gig ram. Its crazy considering the XB only has 64megs and the PS2 has a paltry 32megs. Its just laziness and at the end of the day its not fair on people that haven`t got the latest pc`s.

You do realise it uses 300 - 800mb of ram so unless they put a gig of ram in a mobile phone its not likely to work

That is incredible. It's just about playable on my PC (although I can't play it very well due to the controls being non-inverted), and although it is seriously compressed (check out the mass un-packing session before it loads), it's still an absolutely staggering achievement.

I can't even imagine how they could cram a single enemy (not shy of a few poly's) into 96k, never mind an entire 3D engine with damn fine textures, lighting and shaders.

Ah yes, not seen coding like that for a while. Shame really, l33t coding seems to have gone the way of the pear.
