Emails Missing In Outlook Express

My Dad has a problem with Outlook Express. He clicks in the top window on the message he wants to see but the bottom window that normally displays the message has nothinhg in it. If he double clicks the email to bring it up in a new window it aslo has nothing in. He says if he looks in the source of the email he can read it there by like going into properties and source or something like that. Is there anyway to fix this problem of it no displaying messages?

I can't think of anything off the top of my head but has he tried reinstalling it?

YYes, but it keeps saying he has the latest version and it won't install.
