    ATI.com and Internet Explorer prob

For the past few days Ive been deciding on upgrading my graphics card, twice in the past Ive had Nvidia Geforce cards, but for no real reason I decided to have a change and get an ATI graphics card, probably mainly cos Ive heard good reviews about them and their a direct (if not the only) contender against Nvidia. I settled for a 256MB 9600 XT, cost a fair bit but seemed a much more managable price than the 'top of the range' 9800 Pro cards. I thought I'd get the most uptodate drivers from...hhmmm... ATI.com, but all I can find is a bunch of company crap and investor links, I thought that was quite bad for a main website. Its the most obvious portal to access, the same as Nvidia.com (which is much easier).

Anyone know of a partner ATI website that holds all the products/support/drivers/downloads etc....?

    Type ATI Drivers in google.
Gives this as the top link, probably what you want:

AMD delivers leadership high-performance and adaptive computing solutions to advance data center AI, AI PCs, intelligent edge devices, gaming, & beyond.

        Go to ati.com

Hit the "Drivers and Software" Button/Link (You know the ****ing big one across the top)

        Select Your Operating System

        Select Graphics Drivers

        Select Radeon Series

lol it's not hard now is it

        Regards

Ive always found the ATI site easy to navigate, then again I usually have my eyes open when browsing

Good choice of midrange card. Although you would be better going for the #140 quid high range 9800 pro 128meg card. 256meg isnt needed on a midrange card like the 9600xt/it even makes no difference on the 9800 series of cards. Remember that the price of it will definately fall with ATI releasing the new generation Radeon cards *radeon x800 pro and radeon x800 xt* next week.

Nvidia cards have just dropped in price with the release of the new generation 6800 ultra card.

Honestly, Im telling you guys, I go to ati.com and I cant see no drivers link or anything targeted towards gamers, its a load of company info links...

Maybe ATI made me a seperate website

I managed to find what I was looking for though, good old yahoo.

            Thanks

              drivers etc button top left

Wasn't always the case, and finding old drivers was an arse pain.

I have a feeling a visual aid may be needed.

LOL, ok you guys, it must seem like your trying to instruct a chimp, but this leads onto another problem, I get the same website as above (the one with the BIG RED arrow ) but not the Products/Support/Drivers Bar, am I missing some Internet Explorer plugins or something? Ive got Flash and Shockwave installed....

                  What gives?

Its working fine for me (IE6 on XP) and I don't have any 'fancy' plug-ins installed. Try going directly to the driver page:

                      Why didn't you just click:

"Download latest CATALYST ? for Windows XP (27MB) - Version 4.4"

at the bottom left hand corner of the screen

Or are you not running XP?

All sorted now thanks people, I just backed-up and reformatted the HDD, the smallest, unknown file hidden deep in the Windows Directory must have gone missing or something. About time I had a sort out and started a fresh anyway.
