Does anyone know any good Arcades in the north west? i got a mate coming to visit and were both into games so i wanna show him some cool arcades

I know the Namco Centre at the Trafford centre and that will be our first jolly outing but where else is worth a pop?

I forgot about blackpool mate, they will have every game i could ever imagine, a trip to blackpool should be on the cards then

Ummm depends what games you like.

The trafford centre doesn't have much which you havn't seen before...lightgun and DDR machines.

Its does have a SC2 and Tekken 4 cab though....that's about it.

          ...London's where it's at for arcades...or so i think

            Nope

I live about 5 miles from Blackpool. The golden era for gaming in Blackpool was about 4 years ago, maybe even longer now I think about it..... I remeber when my local arcade had 4 MK1 machines side-by-side when it 1st came out. Now it has two pinballs, two **** sega drivers, a broken Virtua Striker and a few shooters

Most of the machines have been replaced with Gamblers, I guess thats where the money is at nowadays. Penny flickers for the tourists too. DDR and lightgun games are the order of the day, cos thats what the scallies play....

Its kinda symptomatic of the decline of the arcades North of Watford

I guess MrB's in B'Pool may still be ok, Coral Island has a few games but no real new ones, I'd avoid most of the others. South Shore (pleasure Beach) MAY have some but its been a while since I've been there. If you go, watch yo neck, ifuknowwhatImean.......

As far as I know, there are no decent ones in Preston or Manchester (center) but I could stand to be corrected.

The sad thing is, you will probably find better machines at a Glitzy Cinema/Bowling Alley

If u do see any gooner, be sure to let me know

Trafford Centre also has Outrun 2, Virtua Cop 3 and Initial D.

Shame it doesn't have Evo or F Zero though...but apart from that it's pretty good

Glasgow's best (only?) arcade was recently cleared out and replaced with fruit machines as well

There are a handful of good arcades in London, one in Dublin and that's about it. Arcade machines aren't economical. The cabinets cost too much so operators have to charge a pound a play and struggle to make their money back.

Hopefully the Atomiswave will sort things out with decent support from Sega and SNK. Cheap JAMMA standard gaming is what sorted out the arcade industry after the first crash.
