Disabling Internal Sound on a Dell Laptop

I've got an old Dell Inspiron 7500 laptop here. It still works fine and I'm using it as a MP3 jukebox connected to my tv and amp. But its got a lousy internal sound card.

I've also got an external USB soundcard here that sounds a million times better.

Trouble is I don't seem able to have them both installed at the same time and can't figure out how to disable the onboard sound card on the Dell.

    Any ideas anyone?

When it's booting, try pressing Delete or Insert or whatever key it is on your system to get into the BIOS. From there there should be an option such as Chipset Features where you'll be able to turn it off.

From Device Manager have you disabled the sound ?

Thanks but tried that too. It says it has disabled it when I try that but I still get conflicts when I connect the USB device.

can you find the devices drivers and delete them individually? theyre usually listed someone in the control panel - which will stop the begger working ;D
