Xbox Replacement Dvd Drive Question

Hi Can anyone help?
One of my friends has an Xbox and he needs to fit a replacement Dvd drive to this.
Previously the Xbox contained a Samsung drive, does he need to replace the drive with another Samsung drive or could he fit a Philips or even aThompson Dvd drive?
whether or not this makes any difference the xbox is also fitted with an Alladin Mod.

(As far as my experience with the machine goes) you can fit any Xbox drive into any model - the modchip is not relevent.
