PC + XB + ADSL + BB Router = headache

I previously used Broadband (Telewest) though a BB router and had my PC and Xbox connected. I have recently moved to ADSL (BT) but being a tight bastard, would rather not fork out for an ADSL router to use my Xbox with. Is there an easy way of routing my internet connection out to the BB router so I can use my Xbox on Live? If it helps, my ADSL modem is USB, so I still have a RJ45 socket available on my actual PC.

One last thing, I have a 120gb HDD and Executer 2 lite on my Xbox, is it still safe for me to use XBL with a locked hdd?

    TIA

You wont be able to use your x-box onlive with LIVE if you have it chipped. Unless you have a switch installed that allows you to disable the chip. But even if you do I think LIVE will detect your 120 gig disk and complain.
Like said in the previous post use internet connection sahring, its absolute **** though and a pain to get working, buy a quality wireless ADSL router, ?100 or so, worth every penny.

He's got a point. I've noticed I get slightly lower pings than other people with my router. Plus it's just a case of plug in and play. Literally. If you know how to set up Windows to network, then you're laughing. I recommend this...

        DLink DSL-504T

My locked and modchip disabled Xbox is fine. For what it's worth, all my **** is on the F drive. All the 'normal' drives are virgin (except for the haxxor savegames for XboxMediaPlayer and the like - but no complaints or bannings yet.

thanks for the advice folks. GT, I tried enabling ICS but it wouldnt bridge the connections between my USB ADSL and my NIC, something to do with it being a different type of connection (??? wtf) regardless, ill just buy an ADSL router and do it that way, as im ok with normal networking.

Yup, I have a switch and have locked my XB hdd, perhaps ill be ok....just need to decide what Live game to buy now

What the problem with ICS could be is the type of ethernet cable you're using. There are two types, straight through and cross over.

I use the mac equivilant of ICS and was warned about getting the right sort of ethernet cable. For ICS or equivilant you'll need a cross over cable.

Is the error message on your TV with the Xbox or an error on your PC's screen? If it's on the Xbox I may be able to help as I've had them all when trying to get an extremely complex set up working.
