FreeLoader disc - Region specific?

Does the Freeloader boot disc come in either PAL or NTSC versions like the PS-XChange 2 Playstation disc or is it all region.

I was going to purchase it from Play.com but it says for PAL machines only. I have a US GameCube and want to run Japanese software.

btw how many versions of the FreeLoader disc are there and whats FreeLoader 1.06b / Freeloader 1.06B, this is a joke right???

Freeloader is region free. However there are lots of different versions (up to 1.08 I think). 1.06b and 1.06B are different. If you have 1.04 and 1.06b I think it covers most games. Don't know much about 1.08 though.

Freeloaders are regionless as far as I know. 1.06B is a newer version than 1.06b. There was also a 1.04 earlier.

However, since you already have a US Cube, you should strongly consider having it modded. This simply involves fitting a switch allowing you select US or Japanese mode. Unlike Freeloader, this is guaranteed to work perfectly on all Japanese GC games now and in the future.

I do not want to install a US/Jap region switch as I almost exclusivly buy US software if the title is slated for a western release.

However can someone confirm that the HudsonSoft Adventure Island remake will work on a US cube with FreeLoader 1.06Capital B.

I think v1.06B is still the latest version of the Freeloader, 1.08 is the current version of the Action Replay (which seems to have the same compatibility as the 1.06B Freeloader).

i just got the 1.04 for free from work (boss was givin' them away) and it works with my two games - waverace jap and animal crossing us

however, animal crossing almost never works first time and the GC needs to be reset a few times before it works.

its an faq for adventure island and it says it works fine with the freeloader although it doesnt mention which version of freeloader (also, it's regarding playing on a PAL GC) but it'll probably work

Pretty much, 1.06b was actually slightly less compatible than 1.04 (apart from the obvious RE:0 and PSO fixes), 1.06B works with almost everything except games that depend on the bios for language support. So you get jpn F Zero GX attempting to run an unfinished English translation, and Mr Driller: Drill Land with garbage text and game save problems.

wow. maybe i'll hold on to my 1.04 a bit longer, unless I find a 1.06B floating around. cheers for that info m8
