Jap chipped ps2/ US ffxi: can it work?

Before I splash out on the import I need the definitive answer to this q...

I have an ocean blue ps2 loaded with a messiah 2. Its a 37000 series so has no hdd currently.

I can obviously get FFX1 to boot (I presume) but can I go live with it and, if so, what kit do I need to buy.

Please help (if you know exactly what you're tlaking about).

If you want to play it online with a JPN originated console, you can only play the JPN Version online, with a JPN network adaptor/disc.

So if you want to play the US version, your luck is out

gah... even if it is chipped?

Presumably there's no option in the jap game to switch from kana to english? My japanese isn't quite up to that level yet...

Yeah, chipped or not, it doesnt make a difference - the game has to be of the same region as the console its being played on..

Not sure about language options, but I presume not!
