    Well done to Telewest.

Looks like I'll be upgraded to 3Mb. Yay.

NTL customers get upgraded too. I'm going to 1.5mb, although an increased upload would be far nicer.

          3mb

          thats insane

not that I agree with the downloading of illegal pr0n xvids or anything but a 600mb film would take what? 30 minutes at peak (peek? ) speeds?

I repeat, thats insane. I wonder if BT will match it...doubtful

            Dunno.

Is cable limited to the same distance restrictions as DSL? I believe the distance to the exchange is more limited if you want 1meg or 2meg DSL, compared to 512k. In fact, not everyone gets their 512k anyway, let alone a 50% speed boost.

It's all good news, my 128k (NTL) line quite often sees download speeds of around 37kb per second already which I think equates to around 300k anyway ?
Never worked out how the speed is calculated, prehaps someone could enlighten me ?

I don't think the distance is limited, beyond normal networking problems, although everybody shares the same connection up to the UBR, which is slightly different to DSL (where everyone has their own line up to the exchange). Yea, Sarkster, it'd be pretty quick if you could get full speed out of it...

                Thought you had 512k, dave?

so i'll be on 900k/bs for only ?25 PM that sounds good to me.
but they should upgrade us to 256kbs upload though as xbox live hosting isn't very good with only 128kbs up

but still you can't complain for free

EDIT it's only the 150k and 1mb BB that gets 50% free, the 600k is only going upto 750k but it is an extra 150k for free so i'm not going to complain might have to get the 1.5mb BB if i get a job though that would be better for xbox live

No, only have 128k, but had so so many probs since New Year with NTHell (on our 5th set top box this year ) that I think they must have upgraded our connection without telling us which is good, even on my line I notice hardly any problems with lag, even 8 player on PGR2 is fine

btw, BY's page only mentions the 512k, 1meg and 2meg products getting the 50% free speed up. No idea if they have a 128k package or not, didn't look.

Well thats a welcome suprise! Just a quick question for othe BY users, do any of you have problems when trying to share the connection between two computers? Despite numerous routers and stuff still can't seem to get it working on both PC at the same time....
