using a pal ps2 in japan?

Does anyone know if it there is a converter (like a stepdown?) available so i can use a PS2 in japan?? Also has there ever been a VGA box released for the Ps2, so i don't have to invest in a TV and can they be connected to a laptop or do you need a real monitor??

    cheers!

You'd need a stepup transformer rather than a stepdown.

You can get VGA boxes (there are some on Play Asia), but I don't know about the quality of their output. Most laptops don't have a VGA input, only output (e.g. for connecting to a projector when you're doing a presentation).

One good thing is that when you stick a PAL PS2 in to 60Hz mode its outputting proper NTSC, so if the game you want to play has one you should be able to use a normal telly.

When I plug my DC stepdown power cable into my regular PAL PS1, it runs fine off the lower voltage. Isn't a PS2 the same?

Dixons are not going to sell a step-up transformer.

The machine will actually run on 110v -

Euro RGB SCART is a European standard and does not apply to Japanese TVs.

              Ay for real,

the Japanese Teles have Peritel connectors (SCART shape), but they are wired completely differently. You will need a Jap cable in that case.

i`m going to be moving back to japan within the year (london is ****e) for good this time, so was wondering, what are the best options when using a jap gcube and pal x box on a japanese tv?

we wouldnt be buying anything too fancy so if anyone that can reccomend some good budget priced jpn tvs for gaming thatd be sweet!

why not buy an american PS2 and bring it to Japan - no problem with signals, or power or reading in english.
