Bowser your the man in the know when it comes to iPods. My mate was over yesterday so i borrowed a few from his CD collection in his car and put them all on to my iPod. My god it was slow.

It took all afternoon to do about 10 CDs (some were 2 disced mind) and thats via firewire. I dont remember it being so slow at all. It used to transfer from one to the other in no time. Any advice?

Do you mean encoding the music into iTunes or moving from iTunes to iPod?

If it's iTunes to iPod it shouldn't take longer than about 0.5 to 2 seconds per song (dependant on song length).
If it's encoding/importing then it varies. The best I can get is 4.0x import, so encoding one album that's 40 minutes long in AAC at maximum settings takes me 10 minutes. I think this speed depends on your CD reader and how complex the encoding is.

As for solutions, I'm not sure. Sounds like a faulty firewire if the transfer to iPod is slow or a combination of CD reader/ encoding if it's the other.
Baroque probably knows more though TBH.

I mean putting the CD in to the computer and it importing in to iTunes and then i put it on my iPod.

When it was iTunes to iPod it did take a minute or 2 per track to transfer.

I think that average albums were taking about 30 mins to transfer but i will try another one out shortly because it might have just been because i left my computer on all day or something freak like that. Ill give it another go.

My iPods actually getting pretty damn full though. Im on 11GB out of 15 so i dont know what im going to do when it gets full..
