    Broadband Help!

I'm currently on NTL broadband, however due to consistently **** service I'm going to move to BT broadband.

My question is, the package comes with 2 microfilters, therefore if I buy another modem - can I access the internet from two different PC's using 2 telephone points (same line)?

    Thanks for any help.

TBH youd be better off networking them together. We have 4 PCs running off BT Broadband with wireless cards and adaptors and it works a dream.

Although it *can* be done typically you can only have one PPPoA or PPPoE connection per DSL enabled line...

Like it was said you need to do some networking.

As above, ditch the bt modem and buy an ADSL Router, that way you don thave to worry about the Gateway PC been left on. ADSL Guide links to suppliers of such hardware, failing that ask here as loads of forum members have ADSL and routers.

My recommendation: Draytek Vigor2600G Wireless ADSL Router, its probably more than you need but its what i've got.

is there a particular reason you're going for BT? and when you say Broadband, do you mean 512k?

Like Ginza, I'd recommend a wireless network.

easy to set up - yes

            no wires - yes

            expensive - yes

The cheaper option would be wired router. an integrated router/ADSL modem can be bought for a reasonable amount of money and saves any trouble with leaving a machine on or anything like that.

If you need any advice, help or whatever, let us know. The whole networking thing can be a bit daunting cos it seems like loads of money, you're not sure how it's all going to work and whatnot.

Tbh, I've got an Ibook downstairs and my PC upstairs, would it still be simple to set up? Or would the different OS's conflict.

Sorry to be asking pretty dumb questions, but thanks for all responses.

Setup shouldn't be a problem as the router is independent of the os's, all the pc's mac's need to do is route to the internet via the router.

                  Brim,

There's no conflicts between operating systems on networks like this.

They all you the same protocols for configuration AND getting webpages.

I have PCs and Macs sharing the same internet connection, some wirelessly, others not and it works 99.999% of the time.
