final fantasy x-2 question

ive been playing this for a while now and am not far from completing it but im a little worried see im only on 55% which i wasnt to worried about because i thought id do what i do with all final fantasy games,which is do as much as i can on my own and complete it and then buy the guide and get all the secrets ive missed but ive had a bad thought that maybe you cant do that in this game beacuse it runs in chapters?
can anyone tell me if this is right

You can finish the game on a low completion percentage like you have at the moment, its really very easy to beat. Of course, you will have missed out an awful lot, probably taking the most direct route to the end instead of completing all the other missions and so on. I finished it and thought about going back, but it was just to time consuming for me to be bothered with in the end.

the thing im worried about is that certain missions will disappear now that im on chapter 5

They will.

However, after completing the game you can start a "New Game +" which allows you to keep your dresspheres and items, and play a new game to do the stuff you missed out on. You can do this repeatedly till you get 100%.
