TNT postage - Anyone ever used them?

I wanna order an Arcade stick from Play-Asia.com.

    The stick is ?33.57 + ?18.01 (tnt) = ?51.58

TNT is the cheapest option for postage. So has anyone ever used them, and how much will I expect to get stung for with customs etc?

I recently bought a PS2 from Play Asia using TNT. It shipped on a Friday and arrived Monday morning so was pretty quick. No customs charge to pay on delivery. A couple of weeks later though, I got an invoice for the customs charge through the post which comprised VAT (levied on both the value of the goods and the shipping charge) plus a ?10 fee.

However, the VAT charge was calculated wrongly as they seemed to think the declared value was in GBP when it quite clearly states USD on Play Asia's invoice. I've politely written back asking for them to calculate the charges correctly and send me a new invoice. Hopefully, this is a one-off though.

Also if you want to work it out more accurately, customs use these rates when converting from USD to GBP:

So I guess i'd be looking at least 17.5% on top and then another ?10

      Arcade Stick ?51.58
      Tax Estimate ?9.02
      Tnt Fee ?10
      Total ?70.60

I've used TNT about 5 times so far from play asia. They've always been fast, reliable and easily contactable. Also I have never been charged customs (these were all $70 - $160 transactions!)

        I would recommend them.

I recently got about $120 of goods from Play-asia. Was posted on Thursday, arrived on Friday (!). No tax either- and this is a couple of months later. So to confirm the experience above, it's was worth it.

I've ordered the stick and asked them to mark the value as ?20, which they said they would do.
            So fingers crossed

wow they'd do that? then again, i don't see why they wouldnt - if anything happened, they'd only be liable for 20 quid is that right?
and i thought customs allowance was 18 quid? (sorry the quid button isnt working - i'm in us mode and can't be bothered switching to uk )
