    Mega CD / Wondermega question

I have Japanese and PAL Mega Drive games, I also have Japanese and PAL Mega CD games. However all I have is a PAL Mega Drive 2 with 50/60Hz and region select switches. I need to choose between a modded Mega CD 2 and a Wondermega however.

    1. Are the backup RAM carts region free and can they hold multiple region saves?

    2. I know the Wondermega can be modded with region select and RGB picture but can it play PAL Mega CD games and has a 50/60Hz mod been worked out?

    3. Ideally a PAL Mega CD 2 would solve my problems but I can't find any mods for this system on the internet. This is meant to be a question but I can't work out how to word it, you can work it out or something.

    Thanks in advance.

Oh and please nobody mention those region unlock carts by Datel, they're utter **** in my experience.

Yes they are region free and yes they will hold multiple region saves although if you have the same game on say PAL and Japanese then it can overwrite and use the same data.

Indeed, although I wouldn't recommend modding it to multi region unless you can find a good modder as they are very tricky to take apart.

I would also recommend that you take Audio from the headphones, it's less noisy then taking it from the rear phonos.

PAL Mega CD games? ROFL... Seriously you could get it to play PAL Mega CD games but the mod would be a nightmare on a Wondermega.

The Datel CDX cartridge doesn't work on the Wondermega either.

50/60 Mod is available, although again requires you to take the machine apart and it's not that easy...

You would need to mod a Megadrive to Japanese/English and 50/60Hz. You will also need to blow the PAL and US Mega CD 2 BIOSes into EPROMs, you need then to cut the CE line on the Mega CD then solder the other 2 EPROMs (or 1) on top of this with the exception of the CE pin and wire this to a switch with the centre pin being solder to the point where you just cut. Now you have a multi region Mega CD.
