architechturely fantastic pc game?...besides the sims?

I stumbled on to the sims by accident (hot date), my son downloaded it and I fastly became addicted to building houses more so then playing the game itself, so im wondering if there is a game out there that you dont play so to speak but just build amazing stuff?

The Settlers, you'll love this game. I think it may well be up to Settlers IV in the series now. Very relaxing and really quite compelling.

Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 (on the way later this year, currently being developed by Frontier) apparently will have a 'sandbox' mode built-in, so you can just go crazy designing your themepark, without worrying about money or whether the game regards it as a profitable one. Which should be nice.
