    Onimusha or Genma Onimusha?

For my sins I've never played the first Onimusha.

PS2 and XBox versions are both cheap everywhere nowadays, but which one is better?

Do either have 60hz on PAL?

Does the Xbox one have any cool extras to make it stand out?

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Cheers peeps

Onimusha is a great game - the PAL PS2 version is crap though; Capcom in full 50hz, massive borders mode unfortunately.

The XBox version does have extras (although I don't know what exactly) No idea about 60hz either, but I believe it's generally thought of to be the better iteration of the game.

      Cheers!

Thats exactly what I wanted to know. I thought the PAL PS2 version was one of Capcom's crimes from the past...

I will gets me a Sakura Jap ps2 soon. I wish...

Genma is the better game, its harder, the enemies power up into a mad psycho mode, and then theres that evil, evil doll....

I disagree, the PS2 version is better. The green souls addition was lame and stupid, turning battles into a lame tug-o-war. Also the graphics are sharper and clearer, the Xbox visuals are very muddy.

If you have get PS2, get the US one... dual language soundtrack apparently (removed, yes REMOVED for the PAL release ft: )

id have to disagree, id reccomend the jap original as this is the only one that is uncensored. From what iv heard, some of the cut scenes have ben edited out of other regions. So for the collectors, the jap version is the way to go. Although you couldget all the iterations if yah that bothered. They are cheapas chips now right?

That's assuming you speak Japanese or don't care about the story.

In the Jpn PS2 version of Onimusha 1, you can set the subtitles to English, so no story missed - only the puzzles remain Japanese.

Thing is though that the original Onimusha was a walk in the park, the tog of wars you mention actually added a lot of strategy to the game for me, which in itself was far more challenging and rewarding to play. I had a lot of replay value from the difficult secret multilayered pits (I forget their proper name), they were good fun, and I wasnt able to get to the bottom of each for the big rewards.

I didn't like either (hence the poor score for the GO review), but of the two I prefer the PS2 version as like innovator I thought the green souls unbalanced the game (what there was of it).

The 3D characters in the XBox version look better, but the 2D backgrounds look worse. But you can run it in VGA/Prog Scan if you have the right kit, which gives the edge to the XBox version in terms of looks.

Those are in the PS2 version also. I just like to concentrate on the fighting, not mashing on a button repeatedly due to there being at least one green soul with each wave of enemies.

The doll in Genma Onimusha is very cool though.

The Xbox version is better. Much more challenging, freaky doll that won't leave ou alone, and i'm not sure if the ps2 version had it, but the xbox version has the awesome ogre armour.
