    Windows XP anti-aliasing?

Does anyone here know if there's a way to get proper font anti-aliasing on XP?

I installed Mandrake 9.1 a few weeks ago, and the whole thing is anti-aliased up the bazoo and looks great. Does anyone know of a way to do this with XP at all?

Yes, it's called cleartype. You can turn it on in display properties, or go to the MS cleartype website and fine tune it from there.

excellent Thanks for that, I'll try it when I get home. I'm surprised that they only seem to be aiming that at LCD screen users though.

Well, lcd fonts can be a little harsh, as they won't have the natural smoothing of a crt. Cleartype is all geared towards crts too, though. Just run the optimiser thing (link on that page) and select which of the images it presents looks the best for each machine/monitor you have.
