Tactical RPGs - will I like them?

I really like the Front Mission series and Vagrant Story for it's tactical turn-based gameplay and strong plot.

I gave up on the FFX/X-2 games because... I don't know really - they didn't grab me as much as FF7/8 and they just plain bored me.

I'm looking at Disgaea and possibly Final Fantasy Tactics as potential purchases - will I feel at home with those games if I've liked the Front Mission style of gameplay?

If you like Front Mission I'd reckon you'd like Disgaea. In fact I reckon anyone would like Disgaea

This type of game is mostly about tactical battles and stats (although these aren't absolutely important). You needn't get bogged down, but the whole stat thing is part of working out how to best your skills. Additionally, the humour in Disgaea also makes the game enjoyable.

Then there's La Pucelle released this week that I'm just getting started on, look out for the review soon.

One other thing I forgot to mention is that I found the customize-your-character aspect to Front Mission was great fun.

I've got FM4 on JP PS2 and it's great. US release is start of June I think, so you should think about picking that one up.

I too would recommend Disgaea.

If you like Front Mission also try (PSone games but still great) the original Final Fantasy Tactics (far better then the GBA version) and Vandal Hearts (one of my all time favourites).

Disgaea is deffinately worth getting, i'm going thru it at the moment and its great...

Final Fantasy Tactics, is up there with 6 and 7 as great final fantasy games, and again deffinately well recommended....and as mentioned.... makes the GBA version look very poor... hence one of the main reasons i disliked the gba version was that in comparrison to its predecesor... its so inferior.

But i'd well recommend both to anyone
