Yes, but the JPN version is only 1 meter long and more expensive than the UK version.

The HDMI standards are worldwide, so yes you won't have any problems at all.

The official HDMI cable supports 480i apparently. I may have to look into this, although would it be affected by which TV you own too?

C' is right I think the download content is on a game to game basis in that some games work with content from forigen ps stores.

So I've got my US ps3 up and running and it's all good. I've signed up for a UK Network Acc with a card and suchlike.

Now I want to sign up for a US account but from what I've read there's no point in putting ccard details in for this anymore as they've stopped it being able to happen. Is this correct?

But it's worth having a US and Jpn acc, if that's possible, to access the free stuff sooner? Yes/No?

i got a UK/HK and US account and so far you can download demos/videos etc from ANY account but re payment i am sure you need to have a US address if you would like to purchase from said store!

Apologies in advance if it's already been asked in this thread, but I'm on the verge of buying a US PS3 from VG+, and I have a couple of questions:

First of all, in the I hope unlikely event that the console ends up malfunctioning, either out of the box or further down the line, what warranty do I have ? Can I contact Sony Europe or America and ask for a replacement ? (even for a fee, all I want is not to have to buy a new machine at full price)

Second, if anyone's ordered from VG+, were you caught by customs ? Shall I specifically ask them to mark down the package or will they do it automatically, as they usually do for games and such ?

Finally, does anyone know what kind of model I'm likely to get, one with the emotion engine or one without ?

Sony Europe won't touch it, maybe Sony America will if you claim you're an American living abroad, but I think VG+ is your better bet. Mortality rate on the PS3 seems to be pretty good though.

VG+ marked down my Wii on their own, so they might do the same. They;ll mark whatever you ask of course, and it's your risk.

Only European consoles have the Emotion Engine removed... for now. If that matters to you, certainly get one sooner rather than later.

I have updated my Japanese PS3 to version 1.80.

I am pleased to report that the emotion engine has not been disabled. All my Japanese PSX and PS2 games work Outrun 2SP, Kingdom Hearts final mix the lot. They can also be upscaled to HD using a component cable or HDMI. You need HDMI to upscale DVDs though

Outrun 2SP looks great in HD and the upscaling on PSX games is far better than I thought. I was a skeptic about this being worthwhile but I have been proven wrong.

Quick note about PS2 games with progressive scan options. If you are upscaling do not select the progressive scan option as it just knocks the game down into 480P.
