Just Started Final Fantasy XI - Help Please!!

    Hi all!

I have just bought FF XI and after a couple hours of updates we are ready to play. So far we have used the HDD utility disc, registered play online and downloaded up dates. We clicked play and have gone into a place called Windurst. We have had no opening CG or anything like that. We are now wondering around not really knowing what to do. Could someone give me a little advice if the above is done correctly. We also have not put in the FFXI disc that you get with it as it has not asked for it yet. Is that right?

Thanks and maybe see you soon?

I don't think anyone else is playing on the PS2, but if you're in game and wandering around, it must be right. If I remember the reviews correctly, the game comes pre-installed on the Hard Drive, so I guess you don't need the disc at the moment. Probably only if you delete it or something.
As for what to do, go outside and bash some monsters, or talk to townspeople for some quests. You can also get missions from some guards. I'm not sure where in Windhurst they are, but in Bastok they're near some of the gates.
Also, what server are you on? There's a group of NTSC-UK people on the Seraph server. You can see your server when you go to pick your character.

Yep, if you're not on Seraph then post here and we'll get a worldpass. It really is a totally different game when you're playing it with a likeminded group of friends .

I've got the PS2 version, but I play on Garuda with RLLMUKER's.

The Disc that comes with the PS2 version is purely for re-installation purposes so you don't actually need to use it, except if you want to watch the FMV which you can only do so off the disc.

I play Final Fantasy XI on a U.S PS2 and it works fine for me, only complaint I have is the draw distance can be a bit lame at times.

hmm... wonder who that reminds me of..
                      Oh yes, me

Anyway, nice to see more people joining now. Maybe we can use this thread to talk about our progress since the discussion on the other FFXI thread is a way over my head.

If anyone else has just started and wants to team up with a low level warrior let me know.

I'm using PC version as well, so can't help you melenko I'm afraid.
