Anyone having serious **** with XBL atm?

I fleetingly passed on my Outrun 2 online grievence in another thread so I'll explain the whole story. At the weekend, my Xbox refused to display the Outrun 2 scoretables on the grounds that the machine couldn't connect to XBL. Everything else about the game online worked fine and Crimson Skies worked fine, so I didn't think much of it.

Then, last night, the Xbox suddenly wouldn't connect to XBL at all - every time I attempted to log on, I got an "Xbox Live is not responding" error message. I checked the troubleshooter - that worked fine and said it was connected to XBL at the end. So then I tried signing up for a 2 month trial, and the new gamertag there worked absolutely fine too. So then I tried to account restore my "broken" account, but the same problem cropped up.

    Bizarre, indeed.

Microsoft weren't much help, passing it off as a temporary problem that should be fixed in a couple of days. If that's the case, fine and fair enough, but has anyone bumped into this in the past and if so how did you fix it?

    Cheers in advance.

Too easy, waaay to easy... where's fasty?

I don't have any trouble except for the one Xbox usually takes a few seconds before it gets through, when initially turning it on or hooking into Live. I put this down to the fact it is dynamically networked and UPnP takes a second or two to refresh; this will stop the Xbox from connecting from time-to-time and display the error you got. I never have any trouble with the DMZ'd Xbox, unless NTL have fooked something up.

      Heh

But in any case, it's not time-to-time, it's all of the time. Completely ****er'd.

You havent let Sidez loose with your headset in a room full of Americans have you? Im beginning to wonder if the reason I havent been able to log on recently is down to my gamertag being banned

The one thing that's weird in Hank's case is that he made a new, test gamertag using a 2 month trial and it signed him into live no problem. There's definitely something up with his gamertag since the Xbox can physically connect to Live.

I suspect there's something up with the account itself but it's a matter of saying the right set of things to live support to get them to escalate. When dealing with support you just need to be calm and polite but persistant and try to have an answer for all their suggestions.

Once you get past the callcenter robot to a real person you have a chance of having the issue fixed.
