character scores, eh? 9 depths x 7 characters = a really big table to update!*

    anyway, no new PBs but:

    Drill Lab 300m:

    382,220 Puchi - mattSix
    347,885 Susumu - mattSix

and puchi rocks! unless you've got usagi, he's invaluable for his 'jump up 2 blocks' ability..

*i think there's a case for a separate 'usagi' scoreboard; afaik, not every version of drill spirits has him as an unlockable...

I knew this was gonna be a bit tricky, never hosted a Score Table before. I thought it best to keep character score separate due to different special abilities they have...

Anyways I shall wack them all in together and see what you guys think!

Its nothing mate - except I was doing the scoreboard at lunch when I should have been drilling >_<

Going to concentrate on unlocking all characters tonight then try and break that 300,000pts barrier. Will give Puchi another chance. Woof!

Update though (that's an old thread)

              300m
              388,990

              500m
              438,330

              800m
              656,280

              1000m
              752,865

              1500m
              1,036,210

              2000m
              1,019,940

              Endless
              1,363,440 (2683m)

              2000m (off the planet)
              1,037,535

How the hell are you getting such an enormous score for 300m though? Since I'm sitting pretty in the other sections, just about, I don't see how you've got an extra 100k on top of me. That's insane. I've perfect drilled, all lives, all air, and at max speed. How did you get so much!?! Is there something about the scoring that I don't understand? Help a brother out!

don't worry mate, you're not alone.

i can see 400K being possible (just about) at 300m, but i have no idea how importaku has 480K+... i must be missing something too!

Ataru rocks hard - he's the best for sideways dodge manoeuvers that'd kill anyone else...

Yeah, please do I'm going to try to keep the Meteos one alive, so I should hopefully have my work cut out for me

Whoops, they were old as well (sorry, I stopped playing about a month ago and was just dragging up scores from elsewhere).

                        Sorry!

                        Higher scores -

                        300m
                        398,480

                        500m
                        443,975

                        1500m
                        1,227,150

What doesn't make any sense to me is that I have a sort of a max speed at which I descend, limited by how accurate my button presses are and the character I use. Now, if you have trashed 300m so badly with HORINGER Z (WTF!??!? he's SLOOOW) then why haven't you trashed me in all the other areas by such a large degree?

Tell me your secret, cos it ain't just going fast!

Ooh, and those final scores are with Taizo. He's usually faster only on the shallower depths, so Lord knows how I beat my Ataru score on 1500m.

There's some great scores there The Streetest Dude.

Spag, shift my effort from Catch/Yoshi to Mr Drilller, the Yoshi board is a dead spirit sadly, theres no encouragement or nothing.

What I've noticed with Challange/score threads is this: the more people post, comment and offer tactics, a sense of community really sets in, the members put in effort and really try their best - it's fun, it's a challange and they can't wait to tell everyone else they've improved their own score (and people give a damn!). Some classic moments for myself on NTSC are the 1080 Avalanche and RE4 Mercs challange threads, I'd go to these threads first thing in the morning to see how the other fella's had done. That's my rant for the day. Will post some scores later, you got your work cut out for you though, there's gonna be a lot of info to sift through - it's tough doing a Scores thread!

Agreed, getting the most out of a game is what makes the highscore tables so much fun.

When Mr Driller first came out in Japan I rinsed it completely, and now I've got seven flowers on my title screen and I've medalled all the depths, and with all the characters up to 1500m (2000m got interrupted by other DS games). I love Mr Driller so much that I played and played till I had virtually nothing left to do, and now these boards might give me a reason to return (though Meteos puts up a serious fight), so that's another wicked reason.

One question - if you use the powerups, do you get to put your name in? I've never used them (CHEATING FILTH! )

Well I shall do my best to stay on top of it as I'm loving the game and seeing you guys blitzing it is showing me what is possible. Started to get into the zone last night but was brought out of it by my Star Wars fiend of a mate ranting about not getting tickets at Leicester Sq for Epi III Seeing more paterns now though and understanding best ways to attack those trapped airs

As for scores, no powers please!!! And if I've goofed then please continue to give me a shout about it.

At the moment the game play seems to break down into three sections.

Racing down by choosing areas that will allow for rock ledges to form up above you as you go. - I guess this will help get the best Time Bonus.

Attacking X Blocks to free up air capsules and remove long brick lines that slow your decent. - Obviously for that Air Bonus

Freefall sections - I tend to just stay on top as much as possible and grab air when I can.

Anybody got any advise on the best way of improving on these sections and thoughts on other areas that could be discussed to help get me back on the score boards?
